Local History Group

The object of the Group is to discover more about the local history of Hawkhurst and the surrounding villages. Whether you are a newcomer to this area, or have lived here for many years, we are sure you will find much to interest you. In addition to our monthly meetings, we get out and about in the better weather – we hope you can join us! We are always grateful to any member who is prepared to give us a talk!

The Local History Club meets once a month on the first Wednesday of each month at 2:30pm, usually at the Golf Club.

U3A Hawkhurst Local History Walk  Get to know the village
Wednesday 3rd July leaving at 2.30.
Are you new to Hawkhurst?  Would you like to learn more about the Moor, St. Laurence Church, the story of the shops and commercial properties, the future plans? Don has lived on the Moor for over 30 years So much has changed in that time.
Don Buckle has offered to show you around the Moor and tell you how it developed.  You may have lived in Hawkhurst for several years but still may be curious about the interesting buildings, some grand, some very small, many very old. Everyone welcome.
